Dr. Saqqa joins the specialists of Associated Orthopedists of Detroit in providing orthopedic care to the adult and pediatric population. His special interests include the spine and orthopedic spinal surgery.
A West-Michigan native, Dr. Saqqa received his Bachelor Degree from the University of Michigan before enrolling in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy in 2004 from Michigan State University and completed his Internship and Residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center. He also performed a Pediatric Residency Rotation at Children’s Hospital, Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana and a Foot/Ankle Residency Rotation at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Saqqa went on to complete a Spinal Fellowship at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas, one of the largest freestanding multidisciplinary academic spine centers in the world. In Texas he had the opportunity to work with Dr. Scott Blumenthal, Dr. Richard Guyer, and Dr. Jack Ziegler, leaders in artificial disc replacement and Dr. Isador Lieberman leader in robotic spine surgery. While in Texas, Dr. Saqqa treated patients with degenerative spinal disorders, pediatric and adult scoliosis, spine trauma and spine tumors. He performed surgeries that included anterior and posterior surgery of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, including lumbar and cervical arthroplasty, fusions and discectomies. Dr. Saqqa has also worked with the athletic population serving as a team physician for the Flint Generals professional hockey team.
Dr. Saqqa is Board Certified and is on staff at McLaren Macomb Hospital, William Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe, St. John Main, and Macomb Hospitals, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, and Premier Surgical Center of Michigan. He is accepting new patients and will provide second opinions.
